Friday Five...

What a busy week!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for a Friday Five!

1.   My kids are hilarious!  This seems to have become a favorite activity during our developmental center time!

2.  We worked hard on cutting apart and assembling sentences.

3.  We read Elmer and wrote some awesome story responses!  Have you read this book?  I love it!  Do you have to use commentary on student work at your school?  We are encouraged to add commentary to displayed writing.  I love cutting fun shapes from post-it notes and using that to write me commentary.

4.  My friends and co-workers at school threw me an adoption baby shower this week!  It was amazing!  I loved these monthly onesies!

5.  And, here's how generous everyone was!  I just couldn't believe it! :)  Only 4 more weeks until baby girl's due date!

Five for Friday...

I. Am. Exhausted.

And the kids haven't even come back to school yet!  Monday is our Open House... which is more like a  Meet the Teacher day.  I've been running around trying to get my room together and attend several meetings this week.  Kids come on Wednesday!

Five for Friday is back!  I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching this week!

 1.

I got a new laminator for my birthday and I LOVE IT!  It's in my classroom for right now, but I plan to keep it at home to use when making new centers and such on the weekends.

2.

Speaking of my birthday, a couple of friends and I went painting... it was Christmas in July night and this was what we did.  I'm happy with my finished result. :)

3.

As part of the back to school festivities, our county gathered all of the teachers from every school for a Back to School Pep Rally.  There was a relay race where 5 teachers from each school had to race to dress the principal for the first day of school.  Our team chose quite an outfit for our principal including a fashionable yellow skirt.  He was a really good sport!

4.

I stayed late at school today finished up my back to school board.  I printed pictures of the foods from the book and will let the kids color one at Open House Monday morning while their parents are filling out forms.  Also, I purposely hang my letters all funky and slightly crooked... my first year of teaching my mentor teacher gave me a tip that trying to hang them straight is frustrating because it's so hard to get every letter perfect!

5.

Here's how my room looked when I left this evening... there isn't much else I can do to get ready for Open House, but there's still a lot left to do before kids come on Wednesday!  I plan to post more detailed pics of my room next week after I get it completely ready for kids!

Friday Five!

I can't believe I've been out of school for a month already! It is really flying by! Here's hoping the next month with slow down to a crawl! :)

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for another Five for Friday!

1.   I've been spending more time with my embroidery machine this summer!  I wish I had more time for hobbies when school is in session.

2.  We had some storms recently with hail!  After they passed, the sky looked very beautiful!

3.  I've been using the Couch to 5K program and just finished Week 4!  I usually use the treadmill or the roads in my neighborhood, but I decided to try using the high school track one day.  Not the best idea, because the track was harder than both the treadmill and the road (with hills)!  I think I'm just a strange person, because I would have imagined the track to be super easy!

4.  My dog had to go to the vet this week to get ready for boarding while we go to the beach... he was not cooperative and had to get the Hannibal Lecter mask!

5.  And no summer is complete without spending time making centers for the upcoming school year!

Five for Friday...

I'm loving summer vacation!  This is the end of my third week... it's flying by!  Only 22 more days until we leave for the beach!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for another Five for Friday!

1.  Fruit in the summer is the best!

2.  With healthier eating habits has to come some exercise!  I'm hoping to run a 5K in the fall... well, very slowly jog a 5K.  So, today I finished Week 2 of Couch to 5K and I haven't died yet! :)  I am really, really slow, though.

3.  Lots of time at home during the summer sometimes leads to a little boredom (not complaining!)... and the dog gets a new hat.

4.  Speaking of pets... no one better mess with this one!

5.  And jamming in the car is my favorite thing lately!

Five for Friday...

Wow, what a week!  We finished up the school year this week, and I am exhausted!  We had Kindergarten Graduation, Honor's Day, and our end-of-year fiesta!  Hello Summer!!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for another Five for Friday!

1.  I have an amazing sister who gave me some highlights for summer!

2.  We had an awesome fiesta for our end-of-year celebration!  Here's the beginnings of the nacho bar I set up!  I had so many things to carry in from the car that I had to borrow a cart from the sweet ladies in the lunchroom!

3.  Kindergarten graduation was Tuesday!  One of my parents brought in these cute cupcakes!  (The cookie is supposed to be a sombrero from our fiesta!)

4.  I was cleaning out some files this week and found this New Year Resolution craft... almost halfway through the year and I haven't done this resolution as much justice as I should be!

5.  The big bus sendoff the afternoon of the last day!  This is a yearly tradition that I just love!

Five for Friday...

Oh my goodness! Exhausting does not even begin to describe the last two weeks of the year in a Kindergarten classroom! My to-do list is seriously 20 items long! And my kiddos seem to have started their summer break last week!

But we have 4 days left. Yes, you heard that right... 4 days! Holla!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for another Five for Friday!

1. Our school has one of these HUGE spoons for each grade level... we call them (surprise!) the Silver Spoon Award. The class in each grade level that has the best cafeteria behavior for the week gets to display the spoon outside their classroom door. My class has had the silver spoon for kindergarten for the past 2 weeks! This is actually huge, people! My lovelies have had a very hard time with lunchroom behavior and cleanliness this year. So, I'm proud of them for this accomplishment!

2. This week was Teacher Appreciation Week... our PTO sent a letter home giving each day a theme for parents to send gifts to the teachers. Tuesday's theme was to bring your teacher a piece of fruit... this day actually turned out better for me than Monday's flower theme!

3. Thursday was Field Day! We had a blast and the weather was perfect! And these purple tie dye shirts that I made for my kiddos looked ah-mazing! :)

4. This one's a little sad. But, this is also one of the hazards of being in my class this year. Luckily, I'm not only a kindergarten teacher, but a baby doll surgeon... she's recovering well. :)

5. Last, but certainly not least... this showed up on the laminator at school... it just brightens everyone's day! And why wouldn't it??! Now we just can't help but smile when we laminate stuff!

Seriously people... 4 more days!!

Five for Friday...

Oh my goodness, what a week. I really felt like it would. not. end. Only 9 more days!!
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for another Five for Friday!

1. Boosterthon! We have been going non-stop with this at school since last week... we had our Fun Run this week and it was awesome!

2. School lunch one day had chili with beans and baked beans. Enough said.

3. This was my desk at the end of today. Yeah, I know.  I try very hard not to let my desk become a catch-all in the classroom, but it never works!  I'm also a post-it note addict... notice the lime green ones I'm currently rocking!  Don't worry, I handled this mess once the kids left. :)

4. And while I was cleaning off my desk this afternoon, I uncovered this. It helped me forget some of the things that made the week so long.

5. And, a mini chocolate cupcake from a former student this afternoon. :)

My First Five for Friday...

I love reading the Five for Friday posts that pop up on my blog feed every Friday. Today I've decided to jump in on the fun and do one of my own!

1. It was a tough Monday back to school after a gloriously restful Spring Break! Sometimes a girl
needs a Reeses Pieces break in the car to get her home! :)

2. It seems like I am constantly taking distracting toys away from my kiddos... they have hidden pockets, for real! This one was too cute...

3. Earth Day was super fun this year!

4. The teachers on my team always order lunch out on Fridays... it's nice to look forward to eating something other than sandwiches and carrot sticks! :)  I loved this fortune!

5. We had fun starting our Ocean unit this week! The kids loved learning about starfish!

 Have an awesome weekend!

Gearing Up for Back to School!

Wow, this summer has flown by!  I can't believe I only have 2 weeks left before I report back for pre-planning!  As the summer comes t...
